🔍 What is Open Africa Power?
Since 2018, Open Africa Power has empowered a new generation of energy professionals with a holistic view of the electricity sector. The 2025 edition will engage up to 80 participants—with at least 50% women—through a unique blend of digital and in-person training in partnership with top institutions, including:
- University of Cape Town – Graduate School of Business (UCT)
- African School of Regulation
- Politecnico di Torino
- Politecnico di Milano
- SDA Bocconi
📚 Program Structure
A four-part learning journey designed to transform you into a clean energy leader:
1. Digital African Module – Foundations of Energy
📅 June–July 2025 | Online | 24 hours
Hosted by UCT and the African School of Regulation, this module dives into:
- Electricity networks: technology, regulation & economics
- Renewable energy systems
- ICT and digitalization in energy
- Energy & gender balance
📌 Ends with a multiple-choice online final assignment.
2. External Partner Online Course – Energy Policy & Regulation
📅 June–October 2025 | Online
A comprehensive course on policy frameworks for sustainable energy, culminating in a Country Project (individual or group).
🎓 Earn a Certificate of Attendance, Completion, or Excellence based on performance.
3. Italian Module – Innovation & Leadership
Split into two impactful phases:
- 🏛 Residential Week in Italy (Second half of 2025)
Visit innovative power plants, R&D labs, and engage directly with leaders in business, government, and academia. - 💻 Online Course with Italian Institutions(Oct–Dec 2025)
Topics include:- Additive manufacturing
- ICT for grid management
- Climate impact & energy economics
- Decision-making in energy transitions
4. Give Back Module
🎓 Alumni may be invited to support future education activities across Africa, mentoring the next generation of energy professionals.
✅ Are You Eligible?
To apply, you must:
- Be 24–35 years old by April 14, 2025
- Be a citizen of an African country and residing or planning to return to Africa by end of 2025
- Have a Master’s, MBA, or PhD degree by April 16, 2025 (Bachelor’s-only degrees or current grad students are not eligible)
- Hold at least one degree from an African university
- Be fully proficient in English (CEFR C1)
- Be passionate about a career in the electricity and clean energy sector
- Be committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment
