The Risk Management and Compliance Unit (COR/RCU), where this internship is located, plays a central role in strengthening UNIDO’s enterprise risk management, compliance, and information security frameworks, while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
Background and Context
As part of the Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations, COR/RCU ensures that UNIDO’s policies and resources are managed effectively to deliver results globally. This internship will expose you to high-level organizational processes and give you practical skills in monitoring risks, compliance reporting, and the integration of innovation (including AI tools) into risk management.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an Intern, you will:
- Monitor and track projects at risk, keeping detailed records and updating progress files.
- Contribute to the generation of project reports using SAP and AI-driven tools.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the risk register, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Support communication and promotion of risk, cybersecurity, and compliance initiatives, including graphic design and video editing.
- Develop and update content for UNIDO’s intranet pages.
- Assist with clearance of administrative issuances and records management.
- Provide ad hoc support and contribute to emerging projects.
You will also prepare an end-of-internship report summarizing your contributions and learning experience.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Education: Enrolled in, or within one year of completing, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Communication, Marketing, Economics, Business or Public Administration, International Relations, or related fields.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
- Skills: Strong IT skills, drafting ability, and interest in risk management. Graphic design, video editing, and AI-driven reporting experience are highly desirable.

- Location: Vienna, Austria
- Duration: 3–6 months (full-time)
- Entry date: As soon as possible
- Stipend: Monthly stipend provided (living expenses, visas, and accommodation to be covered by the intern).
