As part of the Energy, Resources and Climate Change (ERCC) team, the selected intern will gain hands-on experience in research, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis at one of Europe’s most respected think tanks.

Founded in Brussels in 1983, the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) is one of the most respected think tanks and forums for debate on EU affairs. The Energy, Resources and Climate Change (ERCC) Unit at CEPS brings together a team of specialists working on pressing challenges including energy policy, circular economy, climate change, and geopolitical dynamics. The unit serves as a platform for discussion among EU and non-EU stakeholders, policymakers, and decision-makers.


Position: Intern – Climate Policy
CEPS is seeking a motivated intern to join its ERCC Unit. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a CEPS researcher and contribute to ongoing projects and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support research projects on EU industrial decarbonisation and clean transition pathways, including carbon markets, EU partnerships, and related policies.
  • Conduct desk research, assist with data collection, and provide daily project support.
  • Contribute to the organisation of events and the management of stakeholder networks.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Enrolled as a student for the full duration of the internship and nearing completion of a Master’s degree in economics, international relations, political/social sciences, or a related field. Recent graduates may be eligible under the CIP scheme.
  • Demonstrated interest in climate policy, with academic or practical experience in at least one of the following areas: industrial decarbonisation, clean technologies, carbon pricing/markets, clean transition partnerships, or lead markets for low-carbon and circular products.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to collaborate within a research team, respect deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with openness to teamwork, feedback, and diversity.
  • Enthusiasm to contribute not only to the ERCC unit but to CEPS as a whole.

Internship Conditions:

  • Duration: Six months, full-time, starting early to mid-October 2025.
  • Location: Brussels (in-person), with limited teleworking possible.
  • Compensation: Expense reimbursement of up to €750/month (with receipts). CIP scheme reimbursement applies for eligible graduates.
