About GIZ

For over 50 years, GIZ—on behalf of the German Federal Government—has delivered impact in more than 120 countries. We work with partners worldwide to turn development policy goals into reality and to create meaningful work for our employees.

Team & Focus

Transforming the global energy system is essential for climate protection and resource conservation—and it’s a core arena of foreign policy and diplomacy. Germany, a long-standing pioneer of the Energiewende, plays a key role.
Within the “Public Diplomacy on Energy Transition” advisory project, GIZ supports the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and German missions abroad to:

  • integrate the global energy transition into foreign policy agendas, and
  • shape public diplomacy and expert policy dialogues on international energy and hydrogen diplomacy.

This involves designing high-level dialogue formats and communication campaigns, structuring complex technical topics, and building international networks across government, media, and civil society.

Your Tasks

Support the Berlin/Eschborn team with content and coordination, including:

  • Dialogue & Events: Co-design and organize dialogue events and exhibition formats with German missions on the global energy transition.
  • Fellowship Programme: Help organize and implement a fellowship for international journalists focusing on the energy transition.
  • Policy Research: Research, analyze, and prepare briefs on international energy policy and energy foreign policy trends.
  • Public Diplomacy Content: Draft information materials for external communication on the global energy transition and hydrogen diplomacy (for/with the AA).
  • Knowledge & Impact: Maintain internal knowledge systems and assist with monitoring outputs/outcomes.
  • Project Admin: Keep org charts current, and prepare/follow up on internal working meetings.
  • Web & Media: Contribute to public relations products and maintain the project website.

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled (or graduated within the last 6 months at internship start) in political science, economics, engineering, geoscience, regional studies, or a comparable field.
