The internship is with the People Analytics Team within the Office of Human Resources. The team delivers comprehensive HR reporting services, supporting data-driven talent management and operational decisions across the organization. The intern will work closely with other OHR teams and provide analytical and reporting support using tools like Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform organizational department tree analysis and liaise with stakeholders like GSSC.
  • Test existing dashboards and Power BI reports before deployment.
  • Collaborate with Business Partners to identify reporting and monitoring needs.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of HR data for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support the design and development of HR reporting tools in Power BI.
  • Analyze demographic trends related to age, gender, and occupation.
  • Identify HR data quality issues and propose solutions.
  • Provide insights on recruitment, staff development, turnover, and retention.
  • Prepare SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for Power BI end users.
  • Manage Power BI security access for Bureaux, Country Offices, and UN agencies.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in HR analytics and reporting using Power BI.
  • Develop technical skills in data visualization and reporting design.
  • Understand HR operational processes in a global development context.
  • Strengthen communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Build familiarity with UNDP’s organizational structure and strategic HR initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or higher) in IT, HR, Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Be in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Have recently graduated (within one year) from a university program aligned with the above disciplines.
  • Be part of a postgraduate professional traineeship programme.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Power BI and dashboard design.
  • Ability to analyze data and deliver timely, accurate reports.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a diverse team environment.
  • Experience with data analysis tools like Python is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Conditions of the Internship

  • Internships are unpaid; however, UNDP provides a monthly stipend to support daily expenses like meals and transport.
  • All costs related to travel, visas, insurance, and accommodation are the intern’s responsibility.
  • UNDP assumes no responsibility for accidents, illnesses, or loss of property during the internship.
  • Interns must provide proof of health insurance.
  • Interns are not considered UN staff and cannot represent UNDP in any official capacity.
  • Interns are ineligible to apply for UN positions during the internship period.
