Context and Background of the Internship
The Refugee Inclusion Accelerator (RISE) program, commissioned by the BMZ, plays a crucial role in addressing the global displacement crisis, with over 140 million displaced people worldwide, as reported by the UNHCR. RISE is focused on enhancing the integration of refugees into national systems, particularly in the areas of education, social protection, and economic participation. This is achieved through advisory services to national governments, as well as creating innovation spaces that promote tailored solutions for integrating refugees and strengthening the resilience of host communities. The goal is to create a positive impact on refugees, host communities, and governments, helping to improve their collective capacity to manage displacement challenges.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled as a student in the fields of social sciences, international relations, peace and conflict studies, refugee and migration studies, or a related field. Basic understanding of key issues related to displacement and familiarity with relevant documents and framework regulations. Basic knowledge of development and humanitarian action, along with relevant policy approaches. Prior work experience in supporting project management, preferably in an international or field-based setting. Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken, with excellent communication skills. Ability to translate complex content into clear and relevant internal and external communication products is an advantage. Competency with relevant digital tools and general digital competence. Applicants must be currently enrolled, enrolled in a continuing education program that includes an internship, or have completed their studies no more than six months before the internship start date.
Responsibilities
As an intern in the RISE program, you will have the opportunity to support the global steering unit in Germany with various program planning, management, and implementation tasks.
Specific responsibilities include: Assisting the program management in organizational and strategic processes. Preparing and documenting team-internal meetings and workshops. Supporting the development of communication products for both internal and external audiences. Contributing to the implementation of program monitoring and preparing documents such as lessons learned and best practice examples. Conducting research work within the program’s thematic focus areas.
Conditions of the Internship
Duration: The internship is scheduled from June 23, 2025, to December 22, 2025.
Location: Bonn, Germany.
Employment Type: Full-time.
Compensation: The monthly intern salary is €2,205.04 (gross).
