✨ About the Assignment
The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking an International UN Volunteer Partnerships & Communication Officer to join its office in Mozambique. This exciting opportunity will allow you to support WHO’s mission of promoting health, keeping the world safe, and serving the vulnerable — with a focus on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
Based in Maputo, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening WHO’s visibility, advocacy, and partnerships in Mozambique, while contributing to both national and international public health strategies.
📝 Key Responsibilities
A. Promoting WHO’s Work
- Develop and implement creative communication strategies and plans.
- Produce high-quality visibility and communication materials (videos, podcasts, brochures, press releases, banners, case studies, etc.).
- Manage and expand WHO Mozambique’s social media and digital presence.
B. Supporting Resource Mobilisation
- Draft donor proposals, briefing notes, concept papers, and reports.
- Contribute to speeches, talking points, and presentations for high-level events.
- Showcase WHO’s impact to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
C. Information & Communications Products
- Facilitate effective internal communication across WCO Mozambique.
- Ensure timely publication of IEC materials for stakeholders.
- Apply innovative approaches and tools to strengthen visibility.
D. Training & Capacity Building
- Build communication skills within WCO teams.
- Provide regular progress reports and strategic advice to the External Relations Officer.
E. Other Contributions
- Support coordination of communication and visibility activities.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document outcomes of communication strategies.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Age: 18 – 80 (International UN Volunteer Specialist)
Nationality: Must be a national of a country other than Mozambique
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Courses in photography, video production, graphic design, or social media are an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in communication, publishing, or media relations (at least 1 year at international level).
- Prior experience with WHO/UN agencies or international NGOs is preferred.
Languages:
- Fluent English (required).
- Working knowledge of Portuguese (required).

This is a volunteer assignment, not an employment contract. However, UNV provides a support package, including:
- Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): Monthly allowance to cover basic needs
