The Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) ensures accountability and provides strategic guidance on gender equality, disability inclusion, and program delivery across the region.

Background and Context of the Internship

This internship is based at ESCAP’s Bangkok headquarters in the OES. Interns will work closely with the Associate Programme Management Officer, supporting tasks across website information management, knowledge sharing, communications, programme management, and partnerships. By joining, you’ll not only sharpen your professional skills but also experience how ESCAP delivers impact through high-level events such as the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development and the Commission Session.

Duties and Responsibilities

As an intern, you’ll assist in a variety of dynamic tasks, including:

  • Creating and updating website content and communication materials.
  • Managing and designing internal SharePoint sites.
  • Supporting strategic communications and public information campaigns.
  • Uploading knowledge products to external websites.
  • Undertaking special communication projects and administrative improvements.
  • Preparing checklists, templates, and reports for senior management.
  • Assisting in programme and budget monitoring.
  • Supporting flagship meetings and high-level intergovernmental processes.
  • Providing administrative and coordination support to OES and subregional offices.

This role provides a rich mix of technical, analytical, and communication tasks, ensuring you gain real-world exposure to UN operations.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.

Additional requirements include:

  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Knowledge of Drupal, HTML, and CSS (desirable).
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage).
  • A demonstrated interest in the UN’s mission and commitment to the values of the Charter.
