About UNFPA

Background and Context of the Internship

The Global Internship Roster 2025 is designed to bring students and young professionals into the heart of UNFPA’s work. Interns will support projects across multiple duty stations or remotely, contributing fresh perspectives, research, and innovative ideas to advance UNFPA’s mandate.

Internships are available in various thematic areas such as:

  • Programme and Policy Development,
  • Communications and Advocacy,
  • Partnerships and Resource Mobilization,
  • Data and Research,
  • Humanitarian Response.

Duties and Responsibilities

Interns will:

  • Contribute to research, analysis, and drafting on development issues;
  • Assist in the design and implementation of projects and advocacy campaigns;
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of UNFPA programmes;
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials;
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and team activities;
  • Perform other tasks relevant to the hosting office’s needs.

Requirements & Eligibility Criteria

Educational

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme (completed at least one year), or
  • Enrolled in a master’s degree or higher programme, or
  • Recent graduate (within one year), or
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme.

Other Criteria

  • Demonstrated interest in international development;
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English or French; fluency in the language of the duty station (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish);
  • Ability to adapt quickly to diverse cultural and professional environments.

⚠️ Applicants with immediate family members employed by UNFPA (parents, siblings, or children) are not eligible.
