🔹 Purpose of the Internship

The Communications Internship is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in communications, public relations, and digital engagement within the UN system. Interns will support efforts to enhance UNDP Africa’s visibility, strengthen its digital presence, and communicate the impact of its work to global audiences.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to apply their creativity, design skills, and storytelling abilities in a dynamic international environment.


🔹 Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Regional Communications and External Engagement Specialist, the intern will:

  • Draft and edit content for websites, newsletters, and press materials
  • Design visuals and produce multimedia content for digital campaigns
  • Manage and schedule posts across UNDP’s social media platforms
  • Monitor engagement metrics and prepare performance reports
  • Support branding and ensure consistency across communication materials
  • Assist in media monitoring, contact list updates, and coverage reports
  • Contribute creative ideas for campaigns, events, and public outreach
  • Help organize online events, workshops, and press briefings

🔹 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, enrolled in a Master’s/PhD programme, or have graduated within the past 12 months from an accredited institution
  • Have a background in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or related fields
  • Be fluent in oral and written English
  • Demonstrate strong writing, editing, and design skills
  • Show familiarity with social media management and tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Be available to work full-time for up to 6 months
